  1. Does Blanca come back to live with chino?

In round 10 Blanca calls chino and tells him that she will be living with her mother for a "while" or "At least till the baby's born" this shows that she will be away from chino for a long time but she later claims that she will be back but in a whisper. Later on in round 12 chino was walking home when a old man and is son coming asking for Willie bodega, chino reply's buy saying that he no longer exist but as they where walking away he offered to let them stay at his house for the time being and they were highly appreciated and they where staying in the baby's future room implying that chino is not expecting Blanca to be back.

  2. Will Blanca go back with Chino?

When the police showed up at Chino's house and asked him to go with them, Blanca was very hurt. She packed some of her things up and left to her mother's house. The next time she saw him was when she visited him to see if he was okay after Bodega's death. According to the text, Blanca still has feelings for Chino. She shows how much she cares in the line, "But Blanca walked over to me and placed her hands on my face 'are you okay'." This shows that Blanca shows sympathy towards Chino. Perhaps she simply needs a break and when she gives birth she will return to Chino.

  3. What is the lesson to be learned from Bodega`s death?

The lesson to be learned from Bodega`s death is that with every ending comes a new beginning. In the eulogy of the book, Chino has a dream that he is looking around East Harlem with Bodega. A woman yells to her son in Spanglish (English and Spanish) from a window to go run her some errands. Bodega tells Chino that Spanglish is a new language created by the people in the neighborhood and a new language means a new race. When Chino wakes up from the dream, he looks out the neighborhood from a window and notices that it looks more alive. Chino says: "Tomorrow Spanish Harlem would run faster, fly higher, stretch out its arms farther, and one day those dreams would carry its people to new beginnings." Bodega was a role model because he helped the neighborhood by providing housing to those who needed it. Just because Bodega died, doesn`t mean that the neighborhood is now hopeless and in a bad condition without him. Bodega had a plan to make the neighborhood better because he had faith in the neighborhood, which made the neighborhood feel like they were important or worth something. This is why after Bodega`s death, the neighborhood seemed more alive. The people of the neighborhood learned from Bodega that they are worth something and this will motivate them to chase their dreams or make a positive change. The fact that Bodega died isn`t going to let the neighborhood give up on their dreams, it will actually inspire them to follow their dreams and help make the neighborhood a better place, which shows that every ending comes a new beginning.

  4. Why did Chino treat Nazario differently than what he treated Sapo?

At the end of book 1, Chino though that Sapo had killed Salazar When the police asked about Sapo, he didn't throw Sapo under the bus. As a matter fact, he wouldn't even go to the police. However, when Nazario killed Bodega, Chino calls Ortiz and DeJesus to meet him at the precinct after the funeral. He gets Nazario, and Vera arrested. Chino says to Nazario, "I know everything..You killed Willie" pg. 209. This quote shows that Nazario betrayed Willie and Chino could care less about Nazario. Chino treats Sapo differently from Nazario because Chino sees Sapo as a brother and Chino sees Nazario with no respect because he sees Bodega as a closer friend to him.

  5. Why did it impact the people from the neighborhood Bodega death?

In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez the death of Bodega really impacted the people from the neighborhood because Bodega gave them a better life and for their families. Also it gave them a future that helped them live their entire life. But now that he is dead their life is going to different. When Bodega died all the spanish people went to his wake showing their whole respect. This was happening from 109st up to El Museo Del Barrio. People were even holding signs from all the things bodega helped them on and did for them while he was alive. The people says " 'He ones helped put my daughter to school.'He helped me and my sister get a job.'He ones brought me a case of Miller beer'".(207) This shows that Bodega was a very helpful and significant person to the people People really appreciated all the things he did for them. Bodega was like the father of the neighborhood, he helped lots of people get jobs and somewhere to live.

  6. Why do you think after the things Vidal said to Bodega, that Bodega still like to be with Vera?

Bodega has brought Vera's husband to New York so he could be told the horrible news that Vera was leaving him and she never loved him. At the resturant they confronted for the frist time and Vera told Vidal that she never loved him and that she wanted to be with him for his money and now she didnt want/need him anymore. As Vidal took all this in he started to realize that Bodega was the man that she was going to be with now. As he saw him he told Bodega "I most warn you about my wife, about her affairs, there have been so many. I personally never cared, she always came back to me. You see her body is an international hotel it has taken in men from all over the world." Vidali think wasnt trying to fight for Vera he was just telling Bodega that if she loved him and stayed with him that he should know what she is going to do while shes in a relationship with him. I dont understand why Bodega doesnt care about anything that Vidal said because he said she was having affairs. So if she has affairs then she doesnt truly love him like he thinks she does. I believe that he thinks that she loves him and will always love him no matter what she does. But he's just not realizing that when their in a relationship she will have affairs behind his back because Bodega works and who knows what job Vera has, so that gives her the best apportunity to have a affair.

  7. Is blanca coming back to chino?

This question had most of the class thinking the same thing because Blanca does not specifically say if she is or not. Blanca left chino because of all the lying he did and the business he was working with Bodega. Blanca found all this out hone the police officers showed up at there house. All of this added up to blanca leaving the house and ended up staying with her mother. Blanca had to deal with a lot in the story and it can explain why she is mad a chino. The last thing blanca said to chino was "I'll be at my mothers house" and never came back. On page 175 Blanca and Chino had a really big argument to upset Blanca chino says he knows he was wrong for all the lying he did but its to late because blanca already left.

  8. Do you think Vera and Nazario planed to kill Vera's husband and bodega and what was the reason?

Vidal, Veronica's husband, comes to Harlem because she called him crying, Bodega wanted Veronica to tell Vidal that she never loved him and that she always loved Bodega. After a few verbal fights, Vera shoots Vidal and he dies. Bodega told her not to worry and that he would go to jail for her and take the blame. The next day, Bodega was shot by Nazario because it was all a set up so that Vera and him would be together while she had her dead husband's money and he had Bodega's power. In the end, Nazario and Vera would have gotten away with everything if Chino hadn't turned them into the police. Chino learns an very important lesson when bodega died he learns that every ending theirs always a new being.

  9. Why does Vera kill her husband?

Vera kills her husband because she already has Bodegas money and doesn't need him anymore and she is not attracted to him. In addition Bodega was jealous so he set up Vera's husband to come to New York. ''Don't you see,John? I don't need you any more''. What Vera is trying to say is that he isn't worth her time and that she doesn't need his money she already has Bodega's money.
