  1. How does Bodega act with Vera?

Bodega was feeling miserable and was nervous to finally see Vera after 21 years, three months and fourteen days.He was scared to see how she would react towards him and how she would feel after so long. One quote that explains this was ''He looked miserable his hands were in his pockets, his shirt collar soaked with sweat."This means that he didn't want to mess up such a important day and wanted her to feel special after not seeing her for so long. Also when he says he has not seen her for 21 years three months and fourteen days its very pedantic and on point and keeps track of the years he has not seen her so it shows Bodega really cares for her and is really in love with her and loyal.

  2. Why did Vera get back with Bodega?

Vera got back with Bodega because she realized how successful he has become. When they were teenagers, Vera told Bodega that he had no goals or any vision of where he wants to be. Bodega has made it a mission since then to prove to her that he did have a vision. He shows her all the apartment buildings he owns and she is really shocked. Her reaction was described in the line, "'Are those really yours?' She leaned her body toward the window to take in the view. Her face glowed." Her reaction shows that she is intrigued by the amount of money a man has. She left Bodega when they were teens to marry a rich Cuban and now she wishes to be with Bodega because of his success and wealth.

  3. How is Vera`s behavior different around Bodega?

Vera`s behavior around Bodega is very different from her behavior around other people. Vera can pull off looking like a rich American girl since she has light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. When she speaks to others, she speaks eloquently and acts with proper manners. When Vera comes to New York, she reunites with Bodega and Bodega shows her one of his buildings. They get drunk afterwards and go to Chino`s apartment to talk to him. Vera laughs when Bodega calls Chino "Chino" and says: "'They call you Chino? My niece is married to a Chino?' Que bonito y pronto van a tener un chinito.' She laughed, a little hysterically. 'Un Chinito, que lindo, get it?' It was the first time I heard her speak Spanish. It sounded as natural as her English. Like she was two people." Vera is well-mannered and more polite around other people, however now she is more loose around Bodega. The fact that Vera spoke Spanish, surprised Chino since she likes to act like a white girl and even changed her name so that she can seem more American-born. Vera`s behavior around Bodega shows that she is comfortable around him since she usually doesn`t get drunk and joke around and speak in Spanish.

  4. What is Julio’s opinion of Vera?

Julio thinks that Vera is rich because she always acts rich when she’s around people and she even change her name so that she could be mistaken for a white lady. Julio said “I can’t take this,’ knowing full well I could”. Julio mean that although he wanted the ring he couldn’t take it because one; Blanca would disapprove of it and two; it was given to Vera. Chino is saying that he can’t take the ring because Blanca wouldn’t want him to take it and the ring wasn’t meant for him, it was meant for Vera. It connects to Nazario’s statement because if someone gets a chance at getting something valuable they’ll want to get it.

  5. Why did Bodega want chino to stay with him while he was with vera?

Chino thought that Bodega and Vera were having a good time reuniting, getting to know eachother way better from the last time they were still together so he decided to let them have some alone time and not get in their way. Bodega doesnt want him to leave he says to Bodega " You can't leave me, thats not cool". As he said that he was sweating so this shows that he's still nervous about being alone with Vera because he feels like it would be akward between them or he would mess up any chance he has with getting back with Vera. But before Bodega was sure that he would get Vera back because he was saying that she loved him and not the guy she married, she was forced to marry that man. So if he had that expectation why be nervous to get her back. just be your regular self and do what you were destened to do get the love of your life back. Bodega doesnt need chino to be their with him, but bodega doesnt want to have an akward conversation and he wants chino to set the tone with him and Vera and make sure that his date goes well.

  6. Why did Vera get back with Bodega?

In the book Bodega Dreams, Vera, Blanca/Negra's aunt came to visit NYC in which she was going to an event at a elementary school to donate money. Later, Chino and Bodega meet up with her and Vera seems surprised and happy to see Bodega because she was in love with him when Bodega was in the Young Lords. Vera seems to still be in love with him because Bodega wanted the best for the community and always worked for it since he was with Vera, and that was a characteristic that made Vera fall in love with him. One quote that shows why Vera, is still in love with and decided to get back with him is, "You're still the same, William. Still the idealist, eh?" (pg.123). This quote shows how Vera still feels the same about him because since she loved him when he was in the Young Lords fighting for his people, and he still does, therefore there wouldn't be a reason why she wouldn't stop loving him. So she decided to get back with him because Bodega still had the same goals he always wanted to accomplish, which impressed her.

  7. Why did Vera gave chino her engagement ring?

In book 2, round 4 Bodega Dreams, Vera gave chino her engagement ring. Vera and Bodega were meeting up from a long time no see, they don't see each other they were talking and all a sudden Vera gives Chino her engagement ring. For example "I don't want it. i never did', she said, her eyes still on Bodega'. Vera never wanted the ring or marry the Cuban guy at any point in her life. I know she didn't because it clearly says in the quote she didn't want nothing with the Cuban guy . So why have a fake ring on her if she not feeling the Cuban guy. A engagement ring is if u really love that person and planning to marry him. "Her eyes still on Bodega" shows that Vera only love Bodega he's the only guy that would catch her eyes . It contributes to the quote meaning because it tells you she was always stuck to Bodega never liked the Cuban guy.

  8. Why does Vera wants to learn how to shoot a gun? to get rid of who?

In book 2, round 4 Bodega Dreams, Chino helped Bodega meet Vera. Chino left Vera and Bodega and went home. Vera and Bodega came to Chino's house drunk.Vera was talking about how she wanted to learn how to roll a blunt. Then she brought up that she wanted to learn how to shoot a gun. One piece of evidence is where Vera said "I want to learn how to fire a gun." Vera is getting back with Bodega. Bodega said she never loved the man she married. Vera gave her ring to Chino so that means she does not want it. So if she never loved the man she married does not even want the ring he gave her and is getting back with Bodega, Vera don't want her husband no more so she has to get rid of him thats why she wants to learn how to fire a gun to kill him.
