  1. why is Nazario trying to intimidate Chino?

This question cannot have an exact answer yet but from what we have it looks like Nazario is making chino nervous on purpose. Chino was walking towards Nazario and describes his appearance as almost holy. When Chino got to Nazario he said his eyes weren't full with sadness and darkness it was the opposite and said it was full of joy. If Nazario's eyes are full of such joy why do we consistently catch Nazario making unnecessary comments and trying to rattle chino. He also describes Nazario as an Iguana he is basically calling him two faces almost like he can change his personality. an example of Nazario's uncomfterble comments is when he said when "you can just walk 3 blocks with me". i find this quote uncomfterble because Chino just told him he had to go to work and Nazario started talking about how long and how far people go to work when Chino doesn't have to go that far. These are reasons why Chino and the rest of us are asking if Nazario is trying to intimidate.

why is chino more scared of not completing his deal with Bodega then talking about who killed Alberto Salazar?.

This brings out the side of Chino that he doesn't like, he really thinks about how he changed from being on the streets to were he is now. Chino is really interested about completing chinos objective which is to get Vera and Bodega together again because if he does his family wins from it too by getting a new apartment. The last thing chino wants to do is rate out his life long friend Sapo for killing Salazar. we yet to know why this happened but If chino were to say a word about Sapo and Salazar in the same category Nazario and Bodega would be the first to find out. Chino already knows what would happened if he snitched on his best friend he would end up like Salazar not by Sapo from Nazario and bodega because its just a business. Chino talks about how blanca would react if she found out Sapo killed Salazar then he says "memories must have rain down on blanca like parachutes". this quote is explaining what was going through Blancas mind when she found out a chunk was missing from Salazars body. those are reasons why Chino is scared of not completing bodegas job then Snitching on Sapo because Nazario,Bodega and him are the only people that know.

  2. What does Bodega`s name symbolize?

Bodega`s name symbolizes opportunities for others. As Chino walks around the neighborhood with Nazario, Nazario tells Chino that Bodega wants him to go see Vera with him. Chino gets a little mad because he has work to do and doesn`t want to waste his time accompanying Bodega. Chino eventually changes his mind because he wants to ask Bodega something. Chino realizes that Bodega is the type of person that is very prideful in what he does because it helps others. We see this in page 100 when Chino says: "Bodega took pride in helping someone who had just arrived from Puerto Rico or Nicaragua or Mexico or any other Latin American country. He`d get them jobs, legal jobs that didn`t pay a lot but got them started on their new life here in America. His buildings were run by good, hardworking me from Puerto Rico who just wanted to work." Bodega means store in Spanish. In a store, there are many different choices to choose from to satisfy your need. This relates to Bodega because, Bodega helps people who are in need of things like a house or a job or legal papers by offering his help to give them these things. Bodega helps those who are struggling and have worked hard in life by giving them what they need, therefore his name, "Bodega" or "store," symbolizes that he can provide people with good opportunities.

  3. How are Narario and Bodega described differently?
Unlike Nazario, who is known by a lot of people, Bodega's profile is less known. In the book Chino compares himself with Nazario effects on people " I was Nazario blending his education with politeness, had made himself be looked upon with love, respect, and a little fear throughout the neighborhood. His smile could be magically disarming but his head was crowded with practicality and genius". The way Chino is describing Nazario is like someone who is a good man even though he knows that Nazario has his bad intentions, but nobody sees them except for him. Now Bodega is a different story, Chino describes him much more seriously " Unlike Bodega's eyes, which were pools of ghosts and sadness, Nazario's were black holes, nothing could escape them, not even lights, as if he could read your mind. He inspired and at the same time intimidated me". In this quote Chino describes Bodega as someone who is not "top dog" , he is described as someone who's life has failed him and now he is trying to resurrect it with his big plan.

  4. Why would people look up to Bodega?

In bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez Bodega gave people that came from another country a new life and something that would help them to begin their life. Nazario showed Bodega on old man that was about to open a Barber Shop in 110th Lexington ave. Bodega and him had a small talk , Bodega started taking pride that he started helping people who had just arrived from Puerto Rico or Nicaragua or Mexico or any Latin American country. He gave them legal jobs that didn't pay a lot of money but got them started on their new life in America. However from that point to now Bodega name started spreading out from people mouth, his pleasure and sympathetic around people was something nice of his part. For example "No wonder Bodega's name had spread like a good smell from a Latin Women's kitchen. This shows that Bodega was someone that gave people a positive reaction toward him, a human being that helped people from Latin America a new life to start of with, someone who came from a new culture not having a life and something to live with Bodega was there for them.something that not anyone could do for someone.

  5. Why Chino got mad about Vera? Nazario was speaking to him about Vera and Bodega. While they was talking Chino was walking to work and Nazario went to join him. Nazario was telling him that Bodega wants Chino to be there when he meets Vera. For example, "Hey, man. Bodega has waited more than twenty years. A few hours won't kill him I gotta go to work." This proves that Chino got mad about the situation with Vera. He did his part because if he didn't he will feel guilty. He gets mad because he feels like he already did his part. His part was finding info for Bodega for he could meet Vera. Than after he does his part Bodega wants more and interferes with his daily life like going to work

  6. Why Did Nazario Walk Up To Chino?

In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez in round 2 we see how Nazario is well known and important in El Barrio. He is important and known because he is the one that helps out the people in the lower class. When he saw Chino he acted like he was interested him and he wanted to speak to him. Chino found it weird that he did this, so he was trying to get rid/away from Nazario, but really the only interest Nazario had in Chino was the link between him, Bodega and Vera. Quinonez writes, "Julio, Right?""Nazario walked over to me, extended his hand, and we shook. I knew I was to be the link between Bodega and Vera. I was determined to fulfill my part of the deal; once Bodega and Vera met I was completely free" (97). This quotes shows us that the only reason Nazario went up to Chino was to speak about his boss but he had to do it in a nice organized way because he is so important and known in the neighborhood he couldn't do it rudely other than that Nazario had no interest in Chino.
